Hello all!

Looking to upgrade my listening experience

I have seen some good reviews of wharfedale diamond 10 speakers and the JoLida JD301RC amplifier

Here are the specs of my situation

Budget is around $1000-1500

Apartment is 700 square feet . Area to put the system around 15 feet by 25 feet

I have been playing electric guitar for over 25 years

I mostly listen to rock, blues and occasionally classical and jazz

Most of my music is on my pc and cds

Would possibly like the option of connecting my tv to the system as well

Thanks tons for all the help !

Nick

Anyone?

I have my eye on the wharfdale diamond 10.2

Would that be too big for the room?

wharfdale diamond 10.2 are discontinued, when available they were about £200? so a budget speaker, why are you looking at them if you have $1500 to spend? Too big they are small bookshelf speakers unless we are talking about different speakers?

Sorry I don't know the USA market, I don't think the Wharfedales are your best bet, you also have a budget tube amp. that may need careful matching for speakers. Why do you need a DAC?

Why do I need a DAC?

If most of my music is on CDs and my Computer shouldnt I get one instead of feeding the signal straight from my digital source ( PC or CD player) to an Amplifier?

thanks!

If you're able to, source a local dealer and audition as much as possible. Take some familiar music and make sure they're aware of your tastes/budget so you can get a solid idea of what you can afford. From personal experience, B&W speakers could be right up your street. If you get a good CD player then you likely won't need a separate DAC. There are, however, plenty of excellent USB DACS that'll greatly improve your PC's audio. the HRT Microstreamer, for example.

So I tried a few systems and loved the Arcam fmj a19 with the Martin Logan motion 40's and loved it

Although I think the Motion 40's or even 20's are a bit too much for my listening area

I probably will go for the motion 20's

Consider the Audio lab 8200cd player it is excellent and has a built in DAC that you can connect a number of different sources. I have one and use it with the Arcam FMJ A19 amplifier which also works well with Monitor Audio speakers.
