Help Please - Again

I have just got a panasonic sc-pt570 home cinema system. Tonight I have watched a new movie on Sky HD yet was not getting any surround effect. I did, however, on a DVD the previous night.

What do I need to do? My connection is optical. That's about the top and bottom of my knowledge on it.

Have you checked the Sound Settings on the sky box ?

Second question. The speakers at the rear are connected to a wireless receiver. Should the cables be of equal length?
