Hi

I am trying to find a HiFi for my mum and disabled dad

They need it to have a cd player and dab radio

They need to have multiple speaker outputs so they can wire it up so can listen to music in the kitchen and/or living room on two separate sets of speakers to not disturb the other room. They need to be relatively simple to use as my dad has a brain injury.

If they could have internet radio that would also be great

Any ideas

I am not an expert al all on stereos so any help gratefully received.

Thanks

tom

Sorry

she hasn't given me a budget bit I would say probably under £1000 but depends on how many boxes it ticks as she would need to also get speaker and install them and she isn't a complete hifi buff but would like good sound

I'm struggling to provide a suggestion for an all in one that provides both DAB and 2 sets of speaker outputs. Would you consider a speaker switch box to provide amplification to two rooms? Perhaps some other members may be able to provide a suggestion to better suit your needs.

would the switch over box allow you to putput to two rooms seperatly and combined

if so this would not be a problem as long as its easy to use

here is a possible solution?:

a good used Dell laptop pc for approx £150 ....free spotify, plus a pair of M-Audio studiophile AV 40 desktop speakers for £83.10 ... total comes to £233.10 ...

get 2 setups (1 for each room) ... you can pay the extra £10 per month for spotify premium if you want ad-free music ...

you will loads of music on spotify and can set up diffferent playlists ...

you will also have free internet radio (worldwide) ... and can connect decent headphones to the system

plus you can use the laptops for surfing the web etc (while you listen to music)

Here is a pic of the speakers:

If you decide the Marantz doesn't suit your needs a speaker switch box will allow you to use either set of speakers individually or both at the same time. Very easy to operate, button 1 for room one button 2 for room 2 both buttons for both rooms. Should cost around £20-£30 from Maplin or the like. Volume will be reduced if you use both sets of speakers at the same time

a follow up to my previous post: ... a cd player may not be needed as most of your parent's favourite cd's may already be on spotify ....

by creating playlists on spotify with their favourite tracks from their collection of cd's will be a great benefit ... plus they will have loads more options and tracks from similar artists

many cd's only have a few good tracks ... so this eliminates the use of a remote control or standing up to change cd's and tracks

Hello all

Thanks for that the Marantz M-CR502 looks like a really nice system but after what some of you have said two separate systems makes a lot of sense. Using the same criteria but not requiring multiple speaker outputs

I have had a look at the Goodmans 1104HDAB and it looks great but can't find it anywhere online

Any other suggestions

Tom
