i think the reason why this is, for some reason the light on my dac is saying 48 for sample rate, I am sure its normally at 44.1 , so now there is no sound, Its decided to change on it own as I have not changed any settings, damn computers  , how do I change it back via the pc using windows 7 , I am sure its a simple thing if you know how, cant see anything obvious in the sound settings

You might need to give us a little more info than that, what DAC, what software are you using on the PC etc etc...

its an acer desktop using windows 7, conneceted to a CA dacmagic via USB , the only thing I did was inadvertantly knock out the USB lead when moving my Tannoy V4 speaker to clean behind . tried a differnt port but same results , tried a system restore, same results, checked the settings in the realtek souncard on the pc , its says 44.1 khz cd qaulity, same results, tried another dac off my main sytem Vdac, guess what, same results ! at least with the dacmagic I can see the incoming sample rate, and it says 48khz, it know it now needs to be on 44.1 but why the hell will it not revert , oh yes did a reboot, same results :wall:

is sound coming out of soundcard on your computer?

Try right clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right of the screen and go to playback devices. This will give you a list of the devices your computer can use to output sound. there should be a green tick next to the device that your computer is using as it's default. See if your dac is there and right click on it, and set as default communication device, see if that works.

its working again  , but I have not changed any settings or put ticks in boxes etc, there was no sound from the pc speakers and souncard either , then the pc speakers came on , after this I noticed the dac was back at 44.1 khz , I knew then it would work and it did, I swear these computers have a mind of their own and loke to take the p*** now and again

And yet it's a much better solution than using a dedicated streamer. Apparently...

for some it is, for some it isn't, but don't let that stop the snide unhelpful comments eh! ;)

Just making a simple point that this wouldn't happen with a dedicated streamer (or at least a decent one).

Well, getting a dedicated streamer might be no bad thing...no sound again, dac saying 48 instead of 44.1 again , it seems to have happened since I used my printer which of course is the on the usb but a different port, any computer experts out there can solve this please? the dac has no fault as its the same with another dac, the issue is with the pc, no settings have been changed to make it mysteriously revert to 48kps as I am aware of, the software says 44.1 cd quality in the settings,

back to basics now...ie VINYL , Hate computers !

:O Oh well, there actually people who struggle with al that Wifi/NAS stuff and to take control over those Upnp-apps once in a while.

Even with the 1000+ costing equipment. ;)
