I have an Alphason Akros AP-46/5 hifi stand and recently decided to remove the spiked feet from the base, but when I did this the fixing nuts that the spikes were screwed into remain prominent and stick out around 5mm from each oblong plastic foot.

I've noticed that each foot has a hole on either side of the nut which maked me wonder if I am missing some sort of snap-on extension that would normally be inserted when the spikes aren't used, covering each bare nut and making the rack more stable.

Does anyone else have this particular model or does anyone know if such a snap-on feature is typical of Alphason racks?

Some stands come with the option of screw in spikes or screw in feet with rubber / plastic tips. As has been mentioned above you would be best to contact Alphason to see what they suggest. Or you could use some beer mats...

Maybe the nut is a push fit into the foot & can be pried out through the holes?

At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious:

Edit - Or replace the spikes with feet:

I've already tried Alphason but they couldn't help as it's an old model they don't produce anymore. You may be right about the rubber tips though because the way the nuts remain protruding suggests that something is meant to be attached to them at all times. My B&W floorstanding speakers came with spikes and replacement rubber feet so perhaps this originally did too. Unfortunately I bought it as an ex-display item so no instruction sheet or extras came with it at the time.

The nuts also connect internally with, and hold securely in place, 4 threaded columns which run the whole length of the rack and terminate at the base of the mdf board at the top (where the turntable sits) so I can't simply remove them either. Perhaps as a last resort I can replace them with shorter ones that will do the same job while not sticking out beyond the recesses in the plastic feet? Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the second link! I didn't realize there were specialists just for this type of thing.

I've emailed Alphason again and if they can't help I'll probably give the Ross site a try.
