I have an old system comprising of Pioneer A400 amp, Sony CDP990 cd player and Tannoy 609 speakers. I like the system but its probably in need of an update. I was thinking of starting with the cd player? Please help

Marantz CD63 MKII K1 signature (£120-£130 on ebay)

or Rotel RCD-965BX

you will get many suggestions

Hi ast, welcome to the forum, as dim_span's said, it depends how much you want to spend and the kind of sound you like to hear (as distinct from the kind of sounds you listen to!). Do you want bright, open and detailed, or slightly warmer, etc., etc.

Ast, I also have an A400 ... hook it up to a Marantz CD63 MKII K1 signature cd player and a pair of Mission 753 speakers (not the freedom model) ...

many people who owned this combination were very happy ... speakers should cost approx £200 and the cdp will cost approx £120-£130
