The tv that Clive recommends is not an LCD, nor is it priced between £600 and £900. It is an excellent tv though. Samz, is there any particular reason that you want an LCD tv and not a plasma? If you consider a plasma then you open up a lot more choice in sets, and plasma tend to be cheaper than LCD.

That's not to say that there aren't some great LCD sets available in your specified price range, like these:

Sony KDL-40W3000 £959

Sony KDL-40V3000 £660, both of these are superb 40" 1080p full HD LCD tvs.

Panasonic 37LZD70 around £700 - £900

Panasonic 37LZD80 around £800 - £1000, both of these are also superb 37" full HD 1080p LCD tvs.

All these prices are on the internet and may require some looking to find. If you consider plasma then you open yourself up to a whole load of other great tvs. I hope I have been of some help, and I hope that others will add to the tvs that I have listed.

I am said that i wanted a lcd tv because i was watching gadget show and they said that lcd i better because of the picture quality. Also i heard a rumour that plasma run out of gas and need to be change more frequently. Is there any truth to this.

Any suggestions for a really good 1080p plasma around the 40-47" area for around £500-£1000 price range.

Only advice I can give you is not to believe everything you hear on the Gadget Show!As stated elsewhere on the forum a lot of what they "report" is absolute drivel or based on "facts" from a few years ago.

Did they also tell you that all the pixies that draw the pictures will escape over time? So you might start with 1366x768 pixies, but soon left with only a few pixies each trying to draw even more of the picture.

It's all complete tosh, as has already been pointed out.

The Gadget Show tends to spout utter tosh like this as they are mearley dimwitted TV presenters with now actual knowledge of what they are reading on the auto-q I mean talking about!

That (tad-harsh) comment re 'dimwitted' would have been more effective without the spelling mistakes

Hi,

Panasonic PZ70 is outgoing model.

Should be able to pick it up fairly cheaply. PZ80 is the new model which is the replacement. I chose the Panasonic PX70 over the PZ70 as I thought it gave better SD pictures.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Hi,

WalkmanT is also a brand name so hopefully it was a SonyT or they may want to talk to you about misuse of ¸.

Cheers,

Yep it was a SONY WALKMAN and I loved the little blighter as it fitted perfectly into my inside pocket in my School Blazer alowing me to run the headphone cable down the sleve and listen to Schooly D and not my English Teacher spouting out Shakespear.

And maybe not being the best at spelling is why I have my own construction company and dont work in the media.

My brother's dyslexic. And also a very successful consultant. Who uses a spell-checker.

But I apologise if anyone took offence at what was meant as a light-hearted (hence smiley face) reply to DJ's dismissal of all TV presenters.....

The fact is that TV - like most of the national press - is more interested in sensationalism and 'stories' than the real-world. That's not a TV presenter's fault - it's the producers/programme-makers for choosing that stance.

No offence taken here Clare I know my spelling can be a bit rubbish at times.

But I know exactly what you mean about the TV/Press being more interested in sensationalism and storys rather than true facts hence why I choose to get your Mag every month.

For the sort of money you're talking about you really cant go wrong with the panasonic Plasmas. I've recently bought a 37" PX80 and its superb. get on pricerunner or kelkoo and have a look at the prices for the 42" panasonics.
