So I've got a CD player attached via analogue interconnects to my stereo amplifier, which then biwires my floorstander speakers. In the last few days, when I switch it on I have encountered a problem with the left channel.
This manifests itself as either no sound, rectified by switching the amp on and off resulting in perfect function or, just now, interference and intermittent distorted sound coming from the speaker, which was rectified by turning up the volume on the amplifier.

This feels like an amplifier problem but could it be the speakers?

well to rull out the speakers swap the connections round. to rule out the CD swap one end of the interconnects around. but i feel it is the amp with the on off ish sorting it.

I would be pointing a finger towards the amp too. You can dismiss speaker/source by swapping channels.
