Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I would like to purchase a cable to connect it to my receiver/TV. My current receiver is MHL compatible but to be honest I do not even know what that means and what functionality it brings (ex. Can you control some mobile functions using the AVR remote control?).
I have seen in amazon 2 types of cables that apparently would work:
1) Micro USB to HDMI – This one seem to be straight forward but some users made comments that it only worked if TV was 1080P?. Also, not sure if this will make use of MHL functionality (whatever that is…).
2) Micro USB + USB to HDMI – This type you must connect your phone both to the HDMI and a USB port. Apparently would not work if you only connect the HDMI.
Would appreciate very much any help to understand what would be the best option and how to make it work. Mainly I would like to use it though my AVR to view multimedia content from my mobile (ex. XMBC, youtube) and use the music apps such as Spotify. Also, in some occasions when traveling I would need to connect to a TV without the AVR.
Many thanks.
