Help buying Cambridge cxa81 amp with speakers

I am looking to buy a Cambridge Audio cxa81 amplifier and Kef R3 speakers

I am a simple plug and play petsonas I unfortunately do not understand technology very well. I have a Cambridge CXN streamer and I mostly use my iPhone to stream from Spotify. I listen to a wide range of music pop to jazz

currently have 30 year old Arcam amp and Rogers speakers and looking to upgrade

looking to achieve clear rounded sound
Whilst current set up is ok I think I am missing out

are the KEFs R3 a good match with the Cambridge cxa81?

Any modern amp will drive any modern speaker unless you have a huge room & play at high volumes or if speaker is very inefficent or difficult load / hard to drive

R3s do like a quality front end for best sound & budget for quality stands & cables

or plug & play Ipad + streamer + Active speakers

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the K3’s but have heard the CXA81. It’s a very impressive amplifier. I found it very clean in its delivery. I tried it with a number of speakers all around the £400 range and all worked well. I just felt I was needing to spend more on speakers to get the best sound out of the CXA81 and in the end went for a different option.

I think you might be more concerned about whether the R3s are going to so work well in your listening room rather than matching them a to a particular amp.

The amp is at the lower level I would suggest for the R3s, which are excellent but may not be to your taste. Have you heard them?
Richer Sounds carry both brands, so should be a good place to start.

I have the CXA81 matched with the Wharfedale Lintons and find it a very good combination.
