HI just wondering if there were any views on wether it was better to carry bitstream via HDMI or digital coax cable from dvd player to av reciever in terms of sound quality alone? Just after a few opinions cheers
Hi Andrew, just in the process of buying a complete new setup....
From reading various threads, would I be correct in assuming that if I was seting up the Denon DVD1930 with the Sony STR1200ES that in this instance I would also need an optical cable to the receiver for the sound?
Which leads me to another point! I'm currentl looking at the DVD1930 with the AVR1507 (I like the iPod dock..)The tv will be a few metres away with the DVD player, Sky HD and receiver hidden away in a unit.
So, I could run the DVD player and HD box with hdmi cables from each to the TH42PX70B, and then optical cables from each into the receiver (I think!!).
I'm now thinking should I stretch my budget and go for the STR1200ES and save on having to by 2 long hdmi cables and feed them both into the receiver and use the hdmi pass through with just the one hdmi going to my tv?!
Yes, you will need the optical (or preferably electrical) digital output from Denon to the Sony or Denon receivers, and optical from Sky HD to either receiver. And if you want to play multichannel music discs (ie DVD-A or SACD), you'll also need six channels of analogue interconnects from player to receiver.
And yes, you could run HDMI cables from each component to the TV, or you could use the Sony's pass-through to do the job with just a single cable from receiver to TV.
