I am currently using 2 Chord company 1.3 silver plus leads connecting a Sony BDP 370 blu-ray player, Denon AVR1909 receiver, Philips 40" 9704 TV together & I am considering uprading them to either the supershield or active silver plus leads. Would I benefit from buying the 1.4 versions over the 1.3 versions? I understand 1.4 has audio return but would this mean the receiver/TVhas to be version 1.4 for this to work? Are there any more recommendations available, I have read the reviews & do like the Chord company leads but would consider any make at the sub £100 price range. I do also use this set up for listening to CD, is using HDMI for music the best option or can I connect differently for music listening?

The 1.3 Silver Plus is a good lead, I'm not sure it would be worth your while to move to the Active lead and I think the Supershield could even be a move downwards (at the very least sideways). Also, there's no such thing as 1.3 or a 1.4 lead - have a look at this news article. If your cable is certified to pass across 1080p (which your Silver Plus is) then it can handle 3D and ARC just fine if your components are capable of them.
