hi all

can anyone tell me if hdmi and dvi-i are the same thing

can i connect a source via hdmi to a tv with dvi-i (no hdmi socket)connection with an adaptor applied to one end of the hdmi cable, and will i recieve the same quality as if i was going between to items with hdmi..

does hdmi transmit 1080 and will dvi-i except 1080??

No issues with DVI... as you already know the download side is no audio...

HDMI to DVI converters are good at passing the video signal up to 1080P. However no Audio transmitted through DVI. Also if buying an adaptor make sure its a good one.

There is an issue with HDMI to DVI; HDCP. Some early kit using the DVI protocol is not HDCP compliant and will not work with units such as the Sky HD box.
