I'm looking to upgrade my TV and BR player, probably to a Samsung UE40C8000 tv and Samsung BD C-5900 br player. Both these units are "wifi ready", which means they've not actually got wifi... so they either need an ethernet connection or a dongle. If I connect the br player to my router with an ethernet cable and then connect the br & tv together with an "HDMI 1.4 cable with ethernet" will the TV be able to share the BR's internet connection? Just checking which bits I'm going to need to buy! Thanks...

no - its not enabled.

But then theres no need to have 2 boxes with internet - the tv has way more content than the bd, so just connect the tv to the router.

That would mean that all the Bluray online stuff didn't work... not that I ever use that.

But thanks for answering the question.

Worth noting it's advisable to have the BD player networked connected if possible, both for the possibility of automatic firmware updates and because players can 'hang' with some discs while they search for online content they can't access because there's no network connection.
