Can anyone tell me what HDMI 1.3 means? I'm planning on getting a Toshiba Picture Frame LCD TV and a HD-DVD player soon and was planning to get the QED HDMI-SR cable. Will this do the trick or do I need to get something more up-to-date? Also, has anyone actually got a Toshiba 40XF355D TV? I'm hoping it will be a million times better than the CRT I have now, but any reviews I've seen of it are more like "HHmm....It's okay"

You should be fine. I'm pretty all the things that you're buying are all HDMI 1.3 compliant, not that it matters that much at the moment anyway. HDMI 1.3 supports higher bandwidth and a host of other features such as auto lip-synch correction and Deep Colour. A lot of it is just marketing so don't worry too much. A couple of points though. Depending on which sources you are going to be watching, you may not find it a huge step up in picture quality. It will be great for High-Def sources but Standard Definition may not look as great depending on how close you're sitting. I had a good look at that TV when I was shopping around. I was attracted to it by its sleek design but put off by the slightly washed out pictures. I think there are better tvs for the money, particularly if you willing to consider plasmas. Also, in light of recent events such as Warner Bros announcing they're dropping HD-DVD, you might want to consider a Blu-Ray player instead. I think the consensus is that the HD-DVD camp is on the verge of losing the format war. You might want to hold out for a couple of months.
