Hi everybody. This is my first post and I need your Help!

I don't know if i'm being a bit thick, but can you stream HD audio over optical connection as i'm looking at getting a new Sony KDL46HX803 and 470 Blu-ray 3D set up. The problem is I've got a HDMI 1.3a Denon 1909 amp and still want the best sound.

Help or advise welcome.

The best you can get from optical is the DTS Core, from the HD Master Audio, that will stream at 1.5MBPS instead of the standard 750kbps, which will gives an improvement. But for HD you will need an Hdmi or Multi Analogue as stated above.

I wish someone would tell the employees of the Sony Centre in Milton Keynes that...everytime I go in there they tell me that optical is a better way to stream audio than HDMI. When I say "what about HD audio" they just nod their head slowly like David Brent!
