Following the excellent review of the DMP-BD55 in What Hi Fi Feb 2009 edition, I tried to purchase one in Portugal where I live, only to be informed by the Panasonic agent in Portugal that the model has been discontinued. This comes on top of the DMP-50 being discontinued after a shelf life of just a few months. Does anyone know please if this is correct?

BD 55 IS dicontinued, as confirmed by Panasonic on the phone to me yesterday, unfortunately the rep said i'm not allowed to comment on the proposed replacements ie 60 70 or 80.
A shame really, considering how good it is! I waited for ages to get hold of a BD55 and seeing that I was going nowhere with this, settled for a multi-region BD35.
I must say that I am very pleased with the BD35 though.
