Just wonder if Warner Bros were a bit too eager to go to market with this especially with Chrismas looming on the horizon (as I dare say they must have envisaged, and have probably already achieved their objective in making a killing moneywise from both their BD and DVD sales in this respect) as having read some reviews I believe that not only was the picture quality of the BD not that good ( Claire has already expressed her disappointment to this in another thread) the DVD too was lousy

Are we not being short changed by the quality of some of these films given that in this particular case we're talking about one which was only released this year and must have been shot with the most up to date camera technology

Therefore why are the transfers not that good and what has gone so wrong here

One of the worst movies of this year - certainly the worst in the series. Harry & Co look too old and should retire gracefully!

They are childrens books and childrens movies. I agree the actors should have been rowed out and new youngsters brought in as is the case with Disney films.

Harry Potter and the Half-cut mince I call it. I wonder if the lack of quality is becuase its considered a childs movie and they arent expecting adults to be ''critically viewing'

the PQ and SQ. As opposed to Lord of the rings wgich whilst started as a childrens book

has grown into a cult classic for out generatons man-children and will be geekily watched in such a critical manner.

Forget the poor transfer; the editing was SHOCKING.....if you have not read the book just don't bother you won't have a clue what's going on......also agree way too many 'dark' shots......got 'Star Trek' on the viewing list tonight hopefully I will be more impressed by that......'Blade Runner' for afters I think.....

Watched it last night on DVD. Terrible PQ. The acting in most places seemed very wooden to me and yes way to many dark dark scenes.

why would anyone want to watch this badly written, badly constructed, awful children's story that has badly tried to steal ideas from other fantasy stories anyway. For example quidich(or what ever its called) is obviously thought up by someone who knows nothing about sport, a totally pointless game, while a whole convoluted game goes on below, if harry hero crapper catches a stupid little gold ball it renders everything else pointless, WHY BOTHER. harry crapper is like cold play, macdonalds and man utd, people are told to like them by society or do so because everyone else does, people cant think for themselves. probably half the kids who asked for the book for xmas wont even read it.

You WILL enjoy Star Trek - superb picture and sound quality.

OK, I'm gonna put my head on the chopping block and say I liked it

Yes the book was better, but I still found it to be an enjoyable Potter film and a good build-up to the final book / two films. However I must say that, I think you need to have read the book to fill some of the gaps left in the film. To me it was probably the most significant book in the series as it finally answered some questions and set a path ready to be walked in the final book, however unfortunately the film didn't manage to put this across. The ending of the film was also quite weak in comparison to the book, which was quite lively. This is a shame as the full ending of the book would have transferred very well to film.

As for the PQ? I agree in part! The picture and sound quality was, in my opinion, a step back from The Order Of The Phoenix. However the film was shot with an intentionally soft picture using muddy colours. As a result the picture will not appear as sharp and vibrant as The Order Of The Phoenix, but I'm not sure if we can blame the transfer for what appears to be a decision by the director.

So overall, a flawed, but still enjoyable Potter.

I loved the book, and feel that this film did it no justice at all....better to have made this book into 2 films as well, that way all the details JK Rowlings storytelling could have been brought to the screen.

Just watched 'Star Treck', was blown away by this disc, I can now see why my Denon was originally 8x the price of my Sony just amazing pictures and sound.....even my wife who literally 'lost the plot' when the 'real' Spock was telling us about travelling through black holes etc stayed till the end.....and she never once told me to turn the sound down.......well happy......

now for Blade Runner final cut.......
