On the Sky+HD programme menu, when I use the up/down & right/left arrow buttons on the 700 the Sky programme menu moves 2 rows rather than a single row at a time, so I cannot properly navigate the Sky+HD programme menu. I have tried the 'learn' function using the Sky+HD remote, but no success.

Thanks,

I have a Harmony 555.

There is a setting within the Harmony software to sort out the problem you are having. Your Harmony is basically sending two signals for every button press. From memory if you click 'help' a step by step help wizard which allows you to change interkey delays, input delays and repeats. Have a little play with the repeat settings for the Sky HD box. I changed the standard repeat setting for a couple of bits of kit - e.g my Panasonic TV needs a 'long press' to turn on, hence a longer repeart time, however, I reduced the time for my amps volume control so that I could have finer control.

Not sure about the record issue though, mine worked with my old skyHD box by pressing the record button on the 555

Binman,

Many thanks for the reply. I found the screen where there are timings 0 - 6 for key hits, so I changed the setting from '1' to '0' and it now works fine.

I checked and the record (red) key works fine on the 700 - something I missed.

The 700 is a great device and easily a bargain compared to the Harmony One (which would cost an extra £50!). The 700 has recharchable batteries and comes with a USB power charger. Also, I DIDN'T want a touchscreen, as I actually prefer pushing a button for an acitivity (Watch TV) and I also like the colour coded buttons that match my original Sky+HD remote.

Everything works fine, and even my other half is impressed and has used it with no issues other than quickly getting used to button positions.

The following is the solution received from Logitech support via email:

Symptom:
This issue occurs because of a configuration in the Harmony settings. The remote is either sending a command too many times or not often encough, depending on the sensitivity of the device.

Solution:
To resolve the issue, do the following:

[*]Launch the Logitech Harmony Remote software and login to your account
[*]Click on the
devices_tab.jpg
tab

[*]Click on the
troubleshoot_button.jpg
button for the device which is not responding correctly

[*]Select ...responds to some commands either too many times or only occasionally.

[*]Lower the number of commands sent per button press if the commands are repeating unnecessarily. Raise the number if the device responds once when a button is pressed several times.
NOTE: the default is usually set to '3'.

[*]Click on the

button to save your changes
[*]Click on the

button to update your remote

For those interested, I have found my Harmony 700 a great buy and glad I didn't stretch to the Harmony One. Why?

Well, I didn't want a touch screen as I prefer pushing the buttons to the side of the screen. Although it doesn't have the charging cradle of the One it does have a USB charger for the mains and I have just had the 'low battery' graphic on the display, so it has lasted a full 6 weeks. It is used every day, afternoons and evenings, especially for Sky+ pause and fast forward etc, so quite a lot of use. I also like that it quickly goes to sleep and that you have to tilt it to wake it up, so if you just want to move it and keep it level it will stay off - a good battery conserving design. I am now going to leave it charging overnight (when you get the 'low battery' just push 'exit' on the screen and it is okay for an evening's use before re-charging).

Hope this is useful.
