Hi there

I hope some of you can give med an advice whether to buy the Grado sr60i or the sr80i.

What are the most significant difference between these two sets apart from the price?

Oh, and would any of you say that these sets are uncomfortable to wear, or are they good buys?

Regards

They're slightly odd to wear (that's the best i can describe it) but I wouldn't necessarily call them uncomfortable (and neither Mrs JD nor Miss KD have complained, having probably used my 80s more than I have). The 80s are marginally better and probably worth the extra 20 quid.

Seconded, JD. Sorreltiger Jr seems to find the 80s very comfortable judging by the amount of time he spends watching iPlayer with them plugged into my laptop! Like JD, I decided that I might as well go with the more expensive ones as the price differential isn't huge.

Goldring NS-1000. Not being facetious, but they don't leak like Grados, comfortable and at £50.00 from Play.com are a bargain.

TBVH, I can't get on with sound of my SR60is. They are good, others are better.

Go for a pair of Alessandro MS1's. Cheaper than the Grados and better sounding, I have both the 60 and the 80 and the Alessandros have that something thats make you say, 'I don't believe it,' but it is true.

Aside from the different ear pads (and you can change the pads on either for around £20), the main difference is that the SR-80i offer slightly better bass performance. All things considered, its worth listening to both but if buying blind I recommend the SR-80i as worth the extra
