good folks of the board,

I am looking for floorstanders with a warmer sound that could balance out the brightness of an cambridge azur 540A/C set up. i like the idea of quality standmounts but I like a little 'presence' and I prefer not go the sub route for now. any recommendations of units that do not exceed the capabilities of the amp?

thanks in advance!

I would give a pair of these an audition

Mordaunt Short go very well with cambridge audio.I personally would check out the more expensive monitor audio br5 and the kef iq5 as well. Its purely down to what you like with your taste in music and budget.good luck

The Kefs and M/S and Tannoy speakers, IMO, would be best suited to C/A separates.

The M/A speakers dont gel well with their metal tweeters and with C/A being a bit clinical/forward sounding

Thank you gentlemen. Duly noted.

I gather that the suggested Kef / M/S / Tannoy tend to have a richer / warmer sound?

Also, a co-worker suggested that I try the Wharfdale Diamond 9.5s. Are they a comparable speaker worth throwing into the mix when I demo the others? I am not interested in home theater only two-channel stereo.
