I want to buy a good 2th hand cd-player in the range of 250pound (about 300 euro's), i'm looking at NAD, Marantz and Denon, any others are welcome.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

£250, 2nd hand should get you Meridian 208 (make sure the display is working properly), Musical Fidelity DAC V3 (and just use your DVD player as a transport), Musical Fidelity A3 CDP, and lastly Cyrus CD7.

Rega Planet with enough change for a good interconnect or some decent speaker stands?

Marantz CD17 KI (yes I've seen them go for that much (little?)) or even Marantz CD17 mk2

Marantz CD6000 KI

Cambridge CD4SE (must be the SE edition)

Cambridge D500SE

Some of the older Cambridge players tend to suffer from display failure - this is usually caused by the bulbs behind the display blowing.

Older Nad CD players seem to have reliability problems (520 / 522)

Older Arcam's CD6/7 etc. are likely to be suffering from worn lasers now.

The Denon's are a relative unknown, as I rarely see recommendations for them.

Edit: I've read lot's of bad things about the firmware used in the Rega Planet.

Blimey, well in the second hand market the world is your oyster........

Meridian, Marantz, Arcam DiVA and Denon.............

I am thinking that Arcam DiVA is representing good value at the moment as with the end of the range there are bargains to be had.... CD62T/CD72T/CD73T/CD82T/CD92T and the CD93T are all in your price range......

It all depends what you are playing on it and what you are matching it with...........

Thanx

I'm playing it on a Onkyo SR875 Mission M74i W&M black magic bi-wire cable.

I appreciate this is an old topic but I have a Meridian 208 CD for sale.

It has the remote but I am not sure what power lead is needed to test it.

Will get some pics and hopefully a video of it working, over the weekend - if anyone is interested.

Arcam CD72 or CD73 definitely

Rega Apollo (you could be lucky; one sold last week for £265 on eBay!

Arcam CD192 - You've not got a chance with your budget; they still fetch close to £400 on a bad day

NAD C545BEE; a very good CDP IMO (some people say they've had issues but I've owned one for close to 2 years and never had an issue); great soundstage to boot as well

We're not allowed to sell things on the forum yet 🙂. It's just a standard IEC kettleplug into the back, I think.

I think a Roksan Kandy MkIII could be within reach.
Although a lot of sellers on eBay are asking very optimistic prices sometimes.

When I sold my mkiii I only asked £200, which is what I had paid for it.

It was snapped up and the buyer was dead chuffed, but you can get a lot for four money brand new and some second hand prices seem a bit high.
