Goldring NS1000 question

Yep, that'll be the soundwaves the headphones produce, designed to cancel out external sounds (as picked up by its microphones)

Thanks idc and Clare, was hoping it was something like that

Clare - is that really right?

I bought 2 pairs, one for me & one for the wife.

1 pair makes no hiss at all, the other pair does. Returned the hissing pair, only to have a replacement hissing pair.

Should I be returning the pair that don't hiss then?

Thanks in advance

Matt

Thanks idc. My comment was more along the lines that if hissing is normal for sound cancelling headphones, then why does 1 pair not hiss? They are identical headphones apart from that.

Both pairs do cancel sound, however if they can make one pair without a hissing noise, why can't both pairs be like that?? Far nicer not having the hiss noise, so I want both pairs to be like it.

Awaiting the second replacement pair currently.

To clarify, when NR is switched on there is hissing in one and not the other and when NR is switched off there is no hissing in either?

Yup, that's correct
