I wouldn't worry unduly Liz about the muted comments wrt PX10. I had a good look in John Lewis where they had the 42G10 next to the 42X10 and on standard def, and even on Freesat HD, I was hard pressed to tell much difference between the two.

And I saw a 37X10 next to a 42X10 in another shop. The 37X10 was not muted compared to the 42X10, and actually had a slightly sharper picture on poorer freeview comments.

Hope you enjoy your tele when you finally take the plunge!

Thanks ever so much tvnewbie!

I have decided to ignore what this person said as it is totally unfounded and would much prefer to take the word of people like yourself who have seen it and owners like Nige.

I am just waiting on a pricematch from John Lewis.

Are you getting it and, if so, when?

Totall agree with this Liz. Trouble with the internet forums is that unsubstantiated comments circulate around and eventually become unsubstantiated facts! The 42X10 was 5* on this site and I aggree with previous comments that the 37" looks better on SD.

Hi Liz

All I can say is that I'm very very happy with mine
emotion-2.gif
. No idea how it compares against the previous model as I've never seen them side by side but I don't care either, as I've bought a tv that I spent ages looking at in the shop and chose over & above the others I looked at! The trouble with reviews etc is that at the end of the day it is someones opinion, even those who do it for a living and have seen more sets than we'll ever see! Take the Sony model that WHF said is brilliant but others say they've had problems with the picture - no one person is wrong or right. You could buy the P37X10 and hate it (I doubt it
emotion-5.gif
but its possible) or have problems with it but that doesn't change the fact that I love mine! When WHF eventually get a P37X10 to review, if they were to say its rubbish, or not a 5-star model I still wouldn't care as I think mine looks great. In other words, its all subjective & relative to what people like or dislike. As I've said a number of times I would recommend it to anyone, but as a caveat don't blame me if you don't like it when you get it
emotion-4.gif
.

Its interesting that tvnewbie looked at the 37x10 & the 42X10 side by side & preferred the sharper image of the 37 - we did the same comparison and found that 37 sharper & clearer on SD images both freeview & sky SD, which is why we bought it and not the 42. As for the QED cables, they're certaily well reviewed and that particular one would have been on my short list for sure. Oh, back to overscan - I switched it off last night watching the footie on Sky and actually preferred the image - I hadn't realised the extent that it had enlarged the image, so once you've got yours and you're used to it, have a play! Again, no right or wrong answer, just personal preferences!

Have fun!

Hi Scotsgirl,

I've just ordered my 37X10 from 1staudiovisual this morning (the 9th) and its due to arrive tomorrow...thats with free postage and not next day delivery !

The total price was £535.90 (RS are doing £529 but dont have any in stock) so you might want to check them out before going with John Lewis

best of luck !

A Scotsman.

Hello!

Wow that's a great price! I take it there won't be a free 5 year warranty though?
Isn't it nice to get free delivery. I detest getting hammered with ridiculous surcharges!

Thanks!

Liz

From what I have read on the forums it isn't really necessary but have to say I like it for peace of mind.

Afraid I haven't heard great things re Robert Whyte's customer service.

It's a shame that Richer Sounds only sell in store as their price is fantastic.

Happy viewing on your lovely new TV! Do you have a speaker system to go with it?

I'm not sure whether I will need one?

A speaker system ? Not half ! One part Sony STR-DA2400ES and one part Q acoustics 1010i 5.1...

(between you and me I wished I'd gone the upscaling Toshiba DVD player / Samson Studiodock 3i route instead of the full blu-ray HT system as I could have saved myself a SHED load of money and i'm sure I would have been just as happy. : )

Anyway I guess i'll just have to live with it !

Why am I not surprised!lol

I'm just splashing out on a Panasonic BD35 DVD Player and I'll wait to see what the sound is like on the TV.

The sound system I am quite keen on is the Yamaha YSP600 Soundbar as I don't want speakers and wiring all over the place. Not sure whether I would need a subwoofer with it though.

Let me know how you get on with the telly. I am really looking forward to mine!

****** !!! Delivery due Tuesday now as " There was no one to receive the goods at the delivery point so a card was left."

Funny that, I was at home all day and no card was left either ( seems to happen to me all the time this )

I'll let you know how things go Tuesday

Well I'm not having much luck with my pricematches with John Lewis!

The two stores I asked for a pricematch with (Robert Whyte, Glasgow and S & V, Bolton) don't have the 37X10 in stock.

Any ideas?

Oh now that does look nice!!! Afraid my ship must have got stuck on rocks somewhere!

I'm not sure about the Yamaha YSP600 now as I was going to put it in front of my Tv but was told that there would be vibrations from the wooden unit. Ho hum!

Scotsgirl: It's a shame that Richer Sounds only sell in store as their price is fantastic.

If you can get to a Richer Sounds shop to make the purchase in person, they will deliver it via courier for about £6. I did this in December with my Yamaha 763 and also got them to pricematch; you can also specify the delivery date (some online retailers state delivery within x amount of days)

Afraid I can't manage as my nearest store is too far away.

This is for small items. For delivery of plasma tv's, Richer Sounds charge anywhere between £60-£100 depending on the delivery time slot.
