the vt20 has infinate black pro , as opposed to the g20s infinate black . the vt20 also has a different black filter , and faster responding phosphour cells needed for 3d..

The V20 (non-3D model of the VT20) has a darker filter than the G20

thing ive noticed with 3D demos..picture very fluid.no grain as oposed to some blu.rays.so this must also contribute to a better 3D experience.fact is...not many faces close ups seen yet!

Oh, is it? Interesting to check 2D is V20 vs VT20 then....

I wouldn't go on contrast ratios claimed by manufacturers. It does not guarantee better contrast.
actually ive just checked that pana video on you tube , and it seems the v20 does have the same black levels as the vt20 .. apart from 3d , they only seem to differ in the type of phosphour cells they use , which seemingly may help the 2d performance of the vt20 a little with motion and phosphour trails should one be succeptable to them ..

This is also exactly as I have understood it.

Movie Man:So when is what hifi going to review the vt20?

Funnily enough, we were talking about the VT20 just now. We're desperately trying to get it in for First Tests in the July issue (on sale June 2), but it still hasn't arrived.

FFS, grain is NOT a bad thing, it's a fundamental feature of film, you know FILM, the stuff that FILMS are FILMED on! The fact that you can see it on some blu-rays simply means that the transfer hasn't been DNR'd to within an inch of its life, which is a GOOD thing.

If you're not seeing it on 3D demos its because they're probably all CGI, in which case it hasn't been anywhere near film stock.

V20 is not introduced in 37 inches, in Denmark at least. I would be very surprised if it is in the UK.

It is the V20 plasma screen we are talking about, right?

I've just had a VT20 3D demo a my local Panasonic Store, wasn't what I was initially expecting as with the demo they were playing it seemed the depth of field went back into the TV. However towards the end, a juggler came right to the front of the screen and reached out and it was literally like he was about to touch me, so was very impressed with that. Overall picture quality was excellent from what I saw, although didn't like the look of the set, not as sleek as some of their competitors. It will be interesting to see what you guy's make of it when you get a set to test!.
