Yes, some years before Compact Disc was invented I bought an LP of Denon PCM recordings. All a bit plinkety-plonk demo stuff, but we forget they were the dominant force in Japanese broadcasting, so we’re often at the forefront.

Yes, I'd take a guess they were using it somewhere in the broadcast chain - a bit like the BBC, where necessity is the mother of invention for broadcast engineers - using digital signal transmission long before the days of CD.

Very interesting. I've had Sony carousel players since 1985.

I've always been curious why/that my Sonys have not had On buttons on their remotes and note that this Denon does not either. My Onkyos have had them. Not as fun a fact...
