Although a 'dyed in the wool' squeezebox fanatic, with the demise of squeeze I have become a big fan of Sonos.

Given Sonos' active DSP speaker credentials, and a report I read that suggested Sonos was the world's second largest loudspeaker manufacturer, I wondered whether there was any demand for a full size (floorstander or standmount) Sonos speaker or any talk that they may be considering it?

Interesting thought.

I haven't heard any rumours of this kind. My feeling is that it wouldn't be in tune with the company's plans. They can ship huge quantities of the small speakers, and integration with home cinema is also an important area.

But traditional 2-way hi-fi seems to have taken a back seat. The Connect is now quite long in the tooth, and all requests for an upgraded ('hi-fi') model seem to have been ignored. I know this isn't what you're talking about, but I think it does indicate where their priorities lie.

Then again I'm usually wrong about these things ... and a nicely designed standmount speaker or a pencil-thin floorstander (c.p. Adam) would be welcome additions to the range.

Sonos never give anything away, usually the first sign is an FCA submittal that more often than not gets leaked but there hasn't been anything to suggest any new hardware recently since the Boost was released.

It seems unlikely for two reasons, the best selling model is the cheapest, the Play:1, so they're unlikely to produce something at a premium ticket price. The second reason is that a stereo pair of Play:1s with the SUB is actually a VERY good setup, well worth hearing if you haven't. Because of that it seems unlikely that they'll creating an expensive floorstander that will only sell in limited numbers.
