Full HD - No........Accepts 1080p - Yes ..... ???

Can someone clear this up please....I have a Samsung LE26A456 which in the tech specs says it has ...Full HD - no, accepts 1080p - yes

what does this mean exactly... i thought 1080p was Full HD

It does exactly what it says, try reading it again,
the tv is not full HD, only HD ready but if you feed it a 1080p signal like blu-ray it will accept it.

Yup, in slightly more friendly terms, some 720p TVs are unable to accept a 1080p signal, thus will do nothing (or worse) when fed such a signal, whereas others can and, although they cannot display the full 1080p picture, they can downscale it to 720p.
