Hi.

Bought the Pana set last week. Overall I'm extremely happy with it. Blu Ray is fantastic, upscaled DVD can be variable depnding on the quality of the disc (the best come close to blu ray quality), but, for reasons I won't bore you with, haven't been able to test the set with freeview yet...

I've read a few threads that say that, if you want to get the best out of the G10, it's better to upscale standard def sources externally. At the moment I have an old Humax freeview box, but it does not have an hdmi output, nor does it upscale (obviously). Would I be better served using an external box for TV rather than the integrated freeview tuner in my Pana set? Would love to get a dish for freesat, but that's one for the future as not permitted to hook one up in rented accomodation. If an external box is better, any suggestions as to which one to get? May ultimately be a question for a different area of the forum, I appreciate.

Thanks for the advice.

Suggest you check out the TVs freeview tuner before you invest in another box. It's actually quite good.

I have had my Panasonic TX-L37G10 - for a couple of weeks now. It has SKY, Freesat, Analogue and Freeview signals coming into it. The Freeview signal is by far the best and that's just using the internal Freeview receiver. So well worth trying it.

Also, my eyes may be deceiving me but the picture quality on all channels and DVD seems to have improved over those two weeks. Maybe it needed some 'bedding in' time.

Thanks for the posts...

I'm just being impatient really. A week from now I'll have it all hooked up and can see what I think of the freeview quality. Was alarmed to read criticisms of freeview performance on a few websites, so it's reassuring to hear a couple of owners complimeting the TV in this respect. As I've only had the set for just over a week I'm sure it is still 'bedding in'. Still think this TV is a steal at £769.
