Some friends of mine have a satellite dish on their house which has been there since they moved in. Given that this was in May 2008 I am assuming that it must be a Sky dish as I believe that Freesat did not launch until sometime after that. Can this dish be realigned to work with a freesat receiver or are the dish and LNBs incompatable?

my flat had an old sky digibox which I binned and replaced with a Freesat. Unless it formerly had a sky+, you won't be able to use a freesat recorder (you need twin feeds from the dish), but it will be fine for a standard freesat reciever.

You can use the Humax HDR with a single feed, and use the loop through/single cable mode which will enable you to watch one channel while recording another, providing both channels are on the same mux/transponder.
