Is that a statement or a question Gel?!
Both, thanks. *smile*. I noticed on your website you have stopped doing Pioneer amps and they are known as the best around so I was just wondering why? Thanks.

As one of the pedants on this site, I often genuinely don't understand what people's posts mean, especially if punctuation marks or prepositions (tiresome but necessary) have been omitted. I share the confusion about whether gel should have written "Frank Harvey, stop doing Pioneer amps!" or "Frank Harvey to stop doing Pioneer amps!"

Could well be, they have stopped doing Blu-Ray players too.

Our new website has been a long time coming - some might remember me mentioning it probably as far back as 2013 - but it is nearing its launch now after numerous upgrades, and odd issue here and there. Due to the sheer amount of work that has needed to be done (the info on the current site cannot be just ported over to the new one), valuable man hours have been spent populating the new site with current and new products rather than keeping the old site fully up to date. Only important product have been added or updated on the current website, as the longer we spend updating the current site, the longer it'll take to get the new site up and running.

As far as Pioneer goes, it isn't a 'Pioneer thing', but more of an AV thing. AV is generally dropping in sales, and has been doing for many years (you can see that many AV only dealers/distributors are trying to get into the two channel market as their sales gradually dwindle). Adding to that for the past few years has been the uncertainty shrouding not only 3D, but also 4K and now Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D and DTS:X. Given that we are agents for Onkyo, Pioneer, Marantz, Anthem, Denon, Yamaha, and Audiolab AV electronics, we have generally chosen the best models from those ranges in the past rather than keep every single AV receiver they all do on demo, especially when many of them are very similar. As AV has declined, we have cut that down and down, pretty much to essential models that represent the best of the best. At the moment, with the aforementioned sound formats appearing this year, we will be pretty much clearing all AV receivers and pre/powers in readiness for the models to come, most of which will be more than likely appearing during summer/end of summer - any retailers with non Atmos or non DTS:X receivers at the end of this year are going to be losing money big time. We've been stung like that in the past, and we're not letting it happen again! We are after all, a small, single, independent dealer.

As far as Pioneer is concerned, I personally haven't read anything yet as to what direction they'll be taking. As they have been acquired by Onkyo, will they continue as they were, or will their products amalgamate? It seems as though they are continuing as they were as there are new models coming and they're exhibiting at Bristol, but this info was unknow at the time of their takeover last year. Chances are, you'll see the new models added to the new website. As you can see, their hi-fi products are still listed on the current website.

With newer Dolby Atmos enabled AV receivers, once we get confirmation that they'll be DTS:X compatible too (and HDCP 2.2, although this isn't critical), we will then consider them for demonstration purposes. I'm presuming more will be known around March, as I believe there is a DTS:X announcement then.

Their SCLX range have been excellent, and it'll be nice to see some Atmos/DTS:X enabled receivers back on demo.

I hope that answers your request/statement/question Gel :)

Well, at this Frank Harvey site I can see Pioneer listed in the Manufacturers section, and clicking on the Pioneer link gives these results, with several Pioneer Blu-Ray players and Hi-Fi Amps and Recievers ......
Wow, that's over 10 years old! I didn't even think that was still accessible...

Accessible? It's the top result when you google "frank harvey hifi"!

I wouldn't know, I rarely Google ourselves! It isn't a page that is used or has been used for some time anyway. I believe that was the page for www.frankharvey.co.uk, which was then turned into the blog a few years ago - I'm presuming it was transferred to the hifix URL for some reason. I'm just guessing though, as I don't have any involvement with the website side of things.

Just out of interest when do new av recievers get launched, i've decided not to get a 2014 model but a 2015 one.
Not for a while as the 2014 ones have just reached the shops (except for Frank Harvey):

I haven't seen any release dates yet for new receivers. Based on annual release timings, many manufacturers tend to update their entry level stuff spring/early summer, then the mid priced during summer, and the higher end stuff end of summer/autumn. As I say, we will need to sit tight to await any DTS:X announcements, but it is safe to say that all receivers from this point will be Atmos enabled (at least down to whatever price point Atmos will be starting from). If you recall last year, no manufacturer could make any claims about Atmos capabilities until the official announcement (which I think was June), but that didn't stop Atmos receivers being shipped before that point - it's just that they didn't have any logos on the box or product, and Atmos was then enabled via a software update to unlock it. This may or may not be the same with DTS:X.

We generally get invited to the press previews around April/May time, and then the new models start trickling out after that, though often it can be well into the autumn before they hit the shops.

Last year we had a couple of the new 2014 AV receiver models in time for our Awards deadline (August), although not all those had had the Atmos upgrade at the time of reviewing.
