I auditioned a denon 1909 receiver today with kef 3005se speakers and as i've never had a home cinema sound system before it kind of blew me away and i'm wondering how i managed to get by without one now !

I can get a Denon 2809 for an additional £250 but is it worth it,am i likely to notice an appreciable difference in sound from it ? I can't imagine it sounding better but the sales guy said it would, especially on cd playback. Can't audition it as there's none in stock and i could also get a yamaha 793 but can't audition that either

help and answers on a postcard please, especially as they're due to go up in price in february apparently

hi bermudaotter i have the denon 1909 and am more than happy with it for films and cds. you said yourself it blew you away, so why part with extra money that could go on a blue ray player or new bd dvds. maybe the 2809 would sound better i havnt heard it but is the sound improvment worth £250?

Cheers,ok folks this is it,i can either get

Denon 1909 + Kef 3005se speakers

or

Denon 2809 + Kef 2005.3 Speakers

What's the best scenario,i'm pretty confused myself as both set ups sounded great, anybody else got em or audiotioned them and want to steer me in the right direction please.

I had a similar dilema when purchasing my gear.

I decided on option 1 so if you were blown away (as was I) then I recommend you go for that one.
