Floorstanders

Hi folks. Looking for some advice on speakers. Would like a system with decent floorstanders but can't afford a whole
package at the moment. Was thinking of just buying the two fronts now and
adding the sub ect (of the same line) as I go along. I'm using Tannoy EFX 5.1s at the moment but like listening to music as well as films. I reckon my Onkyo 875 is not releasing its full potetial with these speakers. Anyway, can anyone reccommend anything that will (a) Go well with the amp and (b) integrate reasonably with the other EFX speakers in the short term. My budget is £500.

Any floorstander you buy simply won't inegrate with an EFX centre. If you;re stuck on this route, buy the centre as well, or miss it out entirely and set the AV amp to 'no centre' - the centre channel will be played mono out of the fronts.

That said, if you can still get Tannoy F4s for 120 quid, and the respective centre for 50........(edit: which, it seems, you can't. Scratch that....)

Thanks guys. I might get the two fronts and a centre then. Aegis look good just might have trouble fitting the centre in. Would need a wall bracket for it as it would need to go above the tv (which itself is already quite high) will consider it though. Ideally it'd be good to have it sitting in front of the tv but just no space for that as the centre would get in the way of the screen.

Check eBay for the Aegis Neo 5.1 system, I just bought a system for £500 and its fantastic

And it was from AE themselves too!

Ordered a pair of Mercury F4 customs (Superfi), pair of F1 customs and an FC custom (both Peter Tyson) for £350 in total. Just need a sub now but can wait for that. Well chuffed!

set mine up at the weekend with my onkyo 606 amazing surround sound just saving for a subwoofer im just in two minds now atm as the front floor standers produce a good amount of bass.

speakers really are a bargain.
