Just a quick one this, are downloaded FLAC files as good as the original cd...And if you copy an original cd to a cdr is the quality of the recording affected in any way..

Flac is a lossless format and so should be as good as the original.Copied cd`s in my experience are as good as originals as long as you use decent blanks, try Verbatim and keep the burn speed down. The rule of thumb is to not burn faster than half your writers max speed e.g. a X48 writer use X24 max.I tend to use X16 or X8 if possible.

Depends. Were they ripped properly? What were they ripped from? An original, or an already dubious copy?

In my experience, some copied CDs do not sound as good as originals. Again this can have vary with the quality of the media and hardware.

The obvious solution, if you want to ensure optimum sound quality, is to go to the shop and pay for it.
