Just received a press release from Firestone Audio about their new forthcoming Spitfire Mk II DAC. WHF reviewed the original and gave it five stars, only complaining about the lack of USB - http://whathifi.com/Review/Firestone-Spitfire/

This new one looks to have rectified that problem, as it now has a USB input, along with optical and coaxial.

Best bit is that they're doing an introductory offer on it, 139 Euros (as opposed to the normal price of 249 Euros) between 1st and 31st December 2010. Current exchange rate makes that just under £120. Seems a pretty good price.

Many forum members - myself included - got a cracking deal on the Fubar IV DAC/headphone amp at this time last year. I think they must like doing crazy Christmas bargains!!

It's available on Russ Andrews for £150. Been looking into several DACs and very tempted by this timely discount - means you can get the Supplier as well for price of MK1.

Very true. I've found that ordering from Firestone directly - although they're overseas - is very reliable and quick. I reckon the Spitfire MkII and Supplier combo would be a cracking pairing.

Do you (or anyone) know how the Spitfire compares with the Beresford Caiman? I'm not asking which is 'better', just how they sound once they've burned in. Am I right in thinking the Spitfire is brighter and the Caiman warmer? Any advice on which to play through a Cyrus 6XP?
