Im considering purchasing the atacama nexus 6. Was wondering is it integral to fill them? How much of a sonic improvement will I notice. Also can you use kiln dried sand?

In my experience it's well worth filling them with sand. The bass should tighten and seem deeper but different people seem to have different experiences. Give it a shot.

not precise but more you fill deeper but slower the bass gets - don't fill to top - start at half way and see what you prefer - i tend to weight out into 1kg bags to make easier to put in and take out!!1

How can filling speaker stands make the bass slower? The best stands IMO are the most rigid and inert as they will give you the true performance of the speaker without introducing a sound of their own. I say go all the way and fill 'em up.
