FIIo

Hi can anyone recommend a reputable shop/online store where I can buy THE FII0 JM21?
Probably much will depend on where in the world you are.....
They all seem to be pre-order only.
If in UK I have used these:-

You can try Amazon, Scan.co.uk or even AliExpress. The latter offers some protection against rogue vendors.
2nd time I've seen a comment like that about Aliexpress but haven't been able to find it myself, it's not like the rating system on Amazon or even fleabay.
Where / what protection are you referring to please, I often buy cheaper things from them where it doesn't matter so much but need to buy a couple of more expensive things and was tempted to use them but was hesitant in case they were fake products.

Good question. It's on AliExpress's Customer Policy Service, though you have to dig deep to find it.

I had one bad experience with one seller on AliExpress, I didn't receive the package.
The seller claimed as they'd dispatched the goods, it wasn't their concern and I should contact Royal Mail.
I had lodged a dispute on the AliExpress, in the same way if the dispute had occurred on eBay. The only difference, eBay would resolve the dispute in a few days or week the most.
On AliExpress it took over a month to resolve and I got my refund in full.

In terms of fake products, check the seller's profile and customer reviews before you buy. Some sellers provide authentic certificates (pinch of salt), I shop there a lot, I can't say I encountered this.
Yes I buy fake Nordost cables (but these are very , very good!), if they costs less than hundred and not a thousand, it has to be fake 🙂

Brands like Hifiman have their online shop on AliExpress, there are others too. Many of ChiFi brands like Topping, SMSL, Eversolo, Gerrard, Denafrips, Fosi, FiiO etc are widely available on AliExpress and in terms of reputation these brands are not going to tolerate fake sellers ripping their brand off. Always check the returns policies before you buy.

It isn't water tight, you just need to do the due diligence before you purchase. I only had one bad experience on AliExpress but many on eBay and Amazon.
The only downside for me on AliExpress, it can take weeks to deliver but it's also much Cheaper!

Note that this is a JadeAudio -a Fiio subsidiary- DAP, rather than one from Fiio proper. Indeed Fiio has just followed up with its own M21. The JM21 has a lot of very mixed -lots worst- postings at its head-fi.org device pages. I have no experience with it.

I bought a JM-21.
In several ways, quite a nice little thing.
But mine would not accept a (subsequent) charge....it acknowledged the connection of a correct, working charger - but did not charge.....so it was returned.

(The supplier came back with a 'no fault found' verdict.
Having spent several years working in service / returns departments - often dealing with intermittent faults, their verdict came as no surprise - and I (respectfully) advised that their finding was irrelevant to me).

That's a pain. Were you able to secure a refund in the end?

Yes, credit to them, including postage - said they didn't want to argue - which was good, because neither did I.

I know only too well that, far from always being right, customers can be wrong.
But I wouldn't have returned it if I'd thought the issue was down to me.
(Though, that's what they all say 🤪).
