I know that ebay is a hotbed for faulty fake asian stuff, but most of the sellers have 100% feedback, and they are selling the 300 and 500 and 1000 HDMI cables for less that 15.00

Whats your thoughts?

add shipping cost plus waiting time for delivery .... plus the possibility of paying custom duties ...

may be better getting them from a hifi shop/specialist dealer ... walk .... in-pay .... and you have them for maybe a few pounds more .... (and you have the genuine article)

15.00 to ebay or 80.00 to shop?

Plus you dont pay customs if its that low of price.

I have just seen a monster HD2000 Flagship HDMI for 19.99 in the UK.

How can they sell so cheap if they are selling for 75.00-150.00 on normal sites?

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

dont jump the gun ... bought 4 banana plugs from a hifi shop yesterday ... could have bought the exact same ones for 1/3 of the price on ebay ... (was a bit hasty) ... so perhaps some hifi shops have huge markups (but they have huge overheads compared to the sellers on ebay)

It's like those Kimber cables from Russ Andrews that turn out to be Kamber from Hong Kong, although I must say that the authentic chinese cables are rather good......

I bought 2 M2000 hdmi cables for 25 each, months ago from a Hong Kong seller which sweared that the items where OEM items delivered to him by a person working at the Monster factory in China. They work absolutely fantastic the build id top notch and the package was, as the original. Surely they do not cost 150pounds to make so, if it is true that they are brought from factories no wonder the great price.

And performance wise they made a big improvement to me compared to cheapo ones, plus they look like hose pipes pretty impressive. The difference is that for 150 you get the Monster guarantee, see which is worth it.

Yes but how do you know that they were exactly the same? In Scots law there is such a thing as a rogues bargain. It can be used to prove reset (receiving stolen goods). The proof is that the buyer paid such a low price that any reasonable person would suspect that the source was not legitimate. It is a good yardstick to use when buying off ebay.

I recently purchased one of these gold-plated HDMI cables from a China shop on Ebay, for a measly AU$5.00, and was very happy when I plugged it into my TV/BD system because it worked well.

However! When I tried to unplug it, a slight torque on the cable completely mangled the plug! The "gold plating" is not gold, it is just a bit of cheap metal surrounding the real plastic casing, and is not even connected physically to the real cable. After this incident, the damaged plug is completely unusable, the connection points are all twisted and moved around and there is no way to open it up to fix it.

On the other hand, I really don't feel like shelving out AU$50-100 for a simple cable, so I'm just using component cables for now.
