Does anyone recommend increasing ballast or know the general guidelines for quantity based on cabinet volume?

Thanks.

I've used 2.5kg of oven dried then sieved building sand in each of my Totem Arros. I think they recommend a max of 5kg. Totem also suggest cat litter(?!) Amazon sell lead diving ballast - 10kg for around £56, post paid.

As for how much, ask the manufacturer and/or experiment. My sand is more for physical stability than tightening the bass.

I have sand filled Mission floorstanders. Huge difference in the bass. One of the cheapest and best upgrades you can make. For the sake of a couple of pounds, give it a go. If all else fails, build a sandcastle!

I use cat litter in my speaker stands Its black sand and granit i bought it in asda asda own cat litter one bag all i needed

Bet you all no this who are interested . if you want dried sand there is an outlet to buy it you might have overlooked i came accross it by chance. Hobbycraft store Longham wimbourne had a pile of bags stacked at the checkout

I looked at them Thought i was being really cool in saying to the checkout person Do you know what this stuff used for? big smile wiped of my face when she said shoving in speaker stands. We sell loads of it . oh dear...

I asked on another forum or did i. was it this one I cant remember . About putting sand in speakers themselves got shot down in flames as a idiot

I am sure i got this infomation from my Tannoy speaker hand book with some tannoy F3's and questioned has anyone done this. I was sure i read it right My question was directed on how much do you put in and how do you know

never mind over it now
