When I put my tv on the wall I will need to move my home cinema speakers (Panny SA-pt860) and some of the cabling is too short

Panny home cinema systems have a connector on so I need to splice the cable and have been looking at this for ideas http://www.avforums.com/forums/all-one-systems/1051569-panasonic-sc-pt870-speaker-cable-connections.html

I am a total novice when it comes to this. Checked the cables and in small print on it the number 22awg is on it. After looking on wikipedia I know now that this is the gauge. Am I right in saying when splicing I need to use this cable? Would this be ok http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130448547575&category=4667&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_1554wt_912

Also having never soldered before I am not comfortable doing this. Would butt splices be ok?

I hope I am on the right track here

Thanks in advance for the help peeps

What is the connector like? On my Sony home cinema system (don't worry forumites, it is only for the bedroom) the plug has a little plastic lug which enables the connector to be removed. If yours is like that, you would just need to get a longer piece of cable of about the same gauge and stick on the connector.

It's the same as this pic http://www.avforums.com/forums/all-one-systems/1051569-panasonic-sc-pt870-speaker-cable-connections.html
