Extended Warranties

I'm currently in the proccess of looking to buy a 42" Plasma (£1000 £1500 bracket). I'm planning to buy it online. Some sites are offering the Models a lot cheaper than the RRP, while some are more costly but with an extended warranty included (3 - 5yrs)

What is the general take on extended warranties. Do i pay more for the option of an extended warranty or do i source a warranty from an independant supplier post purchase. And who are the most reputable ? Who offer best value. Thanks

I also would really like to know the answer. Some sellers will offer 5yr warranties for £400+ but others give them away so they obviusly don't cost anywhere near that price. Before my 1yr warranty runs out, where can I go to extend it and how much could I expect to pay? Is it worth extending?
