Extend speaker cable

Hi Guys

I wondered what my options are if I want to relocate my speakers - I would need to extend the current speaker cable, part of which is now built into the wall so I can see my only option would be to connect two peices of wire together. Is this feasible - any advice as to the best way to do this?

Twist the bare ends, and use electrical tape, or preferably heatshrink tubing maplins heat shrink sleeve
or maybe use a butt splice

To reduce the risk of oxidation over time, it is probably be a good idea to solder the joints before shrinking the tube.
