I just took delivery of the pansonic plasma 46 G15 model. But I'm in fact quite sad, the Phillips CRT it replaced is absolutey superb and i felt quite emotional havng to put it away. It was a fantastic set, with superb features. it was a 5 star product a few years ago. Odd feelings

Anyway, what do people do with their old sets?..............other than take it t Sony and buy another TV !

My Toshiba 32" CRT is now serving Sky Multiroom duties in the pool room, actually my older 28" Sony Trinitron is in there as well, but only because I haven't got anywhere else to put it.

Still afraid to replace my CRT trinitron...Motion is prefect, SD is superb, Colors and specially skin tones are perfect. Specially skin structure is very well defined, not so plastic etc. Ok there is a bit noise but with moving images (what else is a tv for) not an issue. But only 72cm and at least 3m viewing distance needed else you can always see the lines.

as much as i like and crave for a newer lcd or plasma...I havent got one yet...my crt broke a few month ago...and i got mad trying to choose a lcd replacement...since I found no one was perfect...I got the crt fixed, and I hope I have it for some more years. new tvs are always evolving and prices always getting lower...so...the more I wait...the more satisfied i get haha

Still using my trusty Wega Trinitron...just love the picture for SD. Ok its FAT lol but face on its a nicely designed set with a thin matt surround and boy can that built in sub woofer throw out some boom without the need for a load of extra speakers. Picture quality is well Trinitron standard which I think is still hard to beat. Also have a small Bravia but it rarely gets used.

Have to admit, the flatscreen is superb. So much more detail and a real pleasure in watching Tv now. Time for blue ray now and then i'm never leaving the house

I've started looking again, because of HD becoming available through an aerial. But i've yet to see a SD picture from a LCD or Plasma that can match my Panasonic 36" 100hz crt.

I bought it about 3 to 4 years ago & it cost a bomb,i've been asked a few times if it's showing an HD picture.

If & when, i'll be reluctant to stick it in another room,it certainly will not go to the tip.

Enjoy your new one.

Was abit sad to retire my 28" B&O tv so its still in storage. Not widescreen so it had to go. Image quality, design and SOUND is better than the 32" samsung lcd i replaced it with but hopefully my next LCD will be alot better.

I'm considering swapping my 36" progressive scan CRT in a while but am also worried I might not get as good a picture, (apart from the increased resolution), with an LCD / plasma / projector, as my current TV is a great performer.

There seem to be a couple of conflicting comments above. Is there a general concensus? Is the new display technology now better than CRT had reached?

And that is the key point. It is fine if you are paying SKY for HD and you have a top of the range Plasma or LCD modern TV. But if you are watching mostly SD I don't think you can beat CRT. I still have my Panasonic 28" CRT in my living room and a Sony trinitron 14" crt in the bedroom. And there they will stay until either they go wrong or HD is much more available on all stations.

In the Netherlands we have a digital signal on the cable, sort of sattelite receiver, although only SD signal, it is free of arial noise.

With this the picture is superb! Absolute better than the CRT even so much bigger. Details I never saw before.

Going to SD airial...to much rubbish, very visible on this size, if you go to picture in picture mode or so (halving the screensize) its ok again.

With blueray disk from a media player.... WOW!

At just 2 meters still prefect!!! (with old CRT I could always see the lines at over 3 meters away)
