I am choosing between the Elac Debut B6.3 (of perhaps B5.3) and the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 bookshelf speakers for a simple 2.0 setup, mainly for listening to music (different genres).

The amp is a Denon AVR-X1800H, the room a living room of about 4 x 10 m = 13 x 33 ft. The speakers will be placed on a TV furniture piece.

For now I have no plans to buy a woof as the neighbours have already been complaining even with 2 small speakers in the past 🙂 I have to work on decoupling them with rubber pads though. Or perhaps buy floor standing models.

Which of those 2 (or similar) would you go for in my case?

I tried the Klipsch R-50M but sent them back. I did not like the sound quality at all, no depth/warmth, fatigue,...

Best,
J.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you as everyone has different hearing and preferences, you really need to audition for yourself.
That said you cannot go far wrong with the Wharfedales and I would also consider the Mission LX series in your budget range.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I absolutely agree it'd be better to try them out in a store, but where I am located Elac is hard to find, and Wharfedale totally impossible, let alone finding a place that trades in both brands to allow a side-by-side comparison... As for online shopping I already had to return the Klipsch, so I'm a bit more cautious now.

I'm considering placing them away from the TV-furniture now. Would you place the Wharfedale 12.2 on stands or rather go for the Diamond 12.3 directly?

In that price bracket I like the Triangle Borea BR03, but realistically it's all down to room dynamics and personal taste. You don't know until you listen!
