I had a day off on Thursday and along with photographing and posting my system in the "Your System" section I had pretty much a whole day (give or take) of hifi listening.

It was great :)

So back to the post...

I rediscovered some old albums:

Snow Patrol's debut album (Somewhere a clock is ticking sounded awesome)
Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits - rocked! Great rhythm (try out Sir Duke)
Third Eye Blind (self titled) - fantastic, both simplistic and rocking at the same time (best track? Motorcycle Drive By)
Elbow's asleep at the back also sounded great, good to show of vocal ability (try Newborn)

I'm sure there was more but I forget....

Great to see that I'm not the only 3EB fan. Motorcyle Drive By is my fave track off the album also. I do really like Narcolepsy but that's just because I can relate to some of the lyrics. My fave 3EB track is Wounded from Blue. If you've not heard that album you must it's just as good as the first.

Cool!
A totally underrated band. A few people know Semi-Charmed kind of Life, that's it.

I love Narcolepsy (the song not the condition), again I love the thick, rich, bloomy guitar on it. I like the way it starts of slowly and then builds up something about "a demon in my head..."

I have Blue also, but no more albums. My fave of that album is definately Slow Motion. love the lyrics and acoustic nature of the song.

Also, wounded is great!
I just had to have a listen to it as I didnt recognise the song name :)

"10 days late" I also love....

Yeah! Anything, Wounded and Ten Days Late are great set of openers to an album. If you like that sort of stuff you might like 'Gravity' and 'Paranoid In Healthy Times' by Our Lady Peace, or 'Stand' by Silvercrush. Then there is also 'The Battle For Everything' by Five For Fighting. All worth a 30 second sample on i-Tunes at least.

I'll check them out, i'm always on the lookout for new tunes.

To return the favour; Guster, Fuel, Splender, Vertical Horizon and to a lesser degree The Calling are a similar bands to 3EB.

Fuel, stands out as being head and shoulders above the other bands though, IMHO. Though they are more Rock based than pop.

Wifes got The Calling's first album but I must confess to never hearing it. I've got Everyhing you Want by Verical Horizon. I've got a couple of Fuel tracks on compilations which I do like a lot. I really should track down some albums by them. Not heard of Guster or Splender. I'll invesitigate. Thanks for pointing them out.

Other bands you could try- Lifehouse, Big Wreck, Matthew Good Band, Three Doors Down, Fastball, Sloan, Goo Goo Dolls, Finger Eleven, Pilate, Blue October, Wintersleep, Dishwala or even Matchbox 20.

Re. Fuel, you must get Something Like Human and Sunburn, both are excellent, though SLH is more rock influenced.

Got loads of GooGoo Dolls, and some MB20, very good. Not heard of the others except Lighthouse (came up on Amazon's "you might like to try this band" thingy).

I'll do some youtubing later to test them out.

Thanks!

PS - Check out Collective Soul.

'Collective Soul' thats another band along with the likes of Powderfinger and Nada Surf that I have heard a couple of songs by and keep meaning to investigate further. As usual when I'm looking for music in HMV etc my mind goes blank.

Sunburn by Fuel is an album I have picked up a few times but never got round to buying. I will do one day and I'm sure I will wish I bought it in 98 when it came out.
