My god!!! One of the most desolate grim films ive ever seen! But i found myself wondering nearly constantly why oh why the victim's pursused their chosen course of action at almost every turn..arrrggg

I've just rented & watched 'The Strangers'............Needless to say, it won't be making it onto my prospective purchases list.

Thanks for the heads up. sort of fancied seeing both films. I had heard some good things about Eden Lake. I think I'll wait till they come onto Sky then. Just watched Vantage Point which thought was very good. I had never heard of it at the cinema. It was just a 'suck it see' film. Only saw it on downscaled to SD but the Dolby Tru HD was cracking.

I watched Eden Lake & The Strangers in one sitting :( didn't really like either - and I hate the fact that The Strangers is advertised as one of those "too strong for cinemas/Explicit/Unrated/Directors yawnfest version" - Bull!

If you guys thought Eden Lake was bad, check out the similarly themed 'While She Was Out' Honestly while our heroine (Kim Basinger) runs through the woods, I'm sure she must have been waving to her attackers or maybe shouting out "Over here, I'm going this way!" so they could always stay close behind.

Can anyone actualy recommend a good recent horror film that is not subtitled? The last one I saw which I enjoyed was 30 Days of Night. Only saw it over Christmas but the DVD has been siting on the shelf for months.

It was better than i expected, but i have to agree, the amount of "why the hell are they doing that?" moments was just silly.

"Storm warning" was pretty good slow to start but nice and gory. At least it earned its 18 cert.

I thought Eden Lake was slightly over the top but still too similar to real life young mobs, put a gun in there hands and its exactly the kinda thing you see on youtube all the time. Young delinquents waving guns and knives around, its a disgrace!
