Jony*5,

Do you happen to be one of these owners? If you are, what are your impressions of the EB2's?

If you're not, never mind.

No, there's only about 40 or 50 pairs of EB2's out there at the mo. About 500 pairs of EB1's though

I've earmarked my next disposable £700 for a shot with the EB2s....... It's just not knowing when that disposable £700 is gonna be available that's the kicker.

Ditto.

If any forum members have bought these in black, would they care to post a picture or two? The website currently only shows the oak version...

I'd like to know how these perform too. Also, with movies if possible.

Past speakers I've owned with soft dome tweeters as opposed to metal make voices sound dull and difficult to comprehend, whilst movies don't sound sharp enough.

Other than that, the closed box design and large cabinet is a WIN!

I may be barking up the wrong tree though in asking for a speaker which does both music and movies well. Reason I ask is because my closed box Celestion 5s are fantastic for both, although their size and driver size limits much bass weight below 65hz which is rather noticable.

Maybe I'll hope that the Arcaydis SM20 isn't going to be more than the EB2s. Please EBR!!

O.k. let's lower the tone and talk seriously. Sarcy comments invite?

I don't think you can accuse the EB2s of being dull even with the soft dome tweeter (I seem to remember it is one of the very accomplished ones of that manufacturer). As they have very clear midrange they should suit dialogue quite well. Would be a waste though, they do make singing voices sound great. And as the now more numerous reviews will tell you, they certainly will not shake the room as much as some big floorstanders or even some standmounts do. The bass is very revealing and differentiates clearly but not overly weighty.

You can see that I am not exactly driving them with the latest in high end electronics, but the results are still great. Saying that, a quick play on the old Kenwood receiver (just cause I can) with tiny power output (16W @ 8Ohm

) made them sound a bit flat. So all of you with fancy electronics may like them even more. And as you expect (and I hoped for) near the wall is fine! So time to go back and listen to them.

Or ponder about the various incarnations of Richard, Ricky and ... whatever else he uses.

And he still answers the phone too. Maybe he is an alien in the first place with multiple limbs to build speakers, make forum contributions and be nice on the phone all at the same time, so no abduction me thinks, just a quick trip home.

Mr. Richter Sir!. You're madder than me, and ain't it the place to be, especially on here. Take Care.

O.k. no more tentacle talk

. But one question has intrigued me since receiving your speakers if any of your eyes are still looking at this thread Ricky.

Do you generally not put serial numbers on your speakers, as my pair doesn't have any?

(... Mmmmm maybe I am special

or maybe he remembers and recognises every speaker he makes? O.k. I stop now.)

Good information there.

How long did yours take to arrive? As I've ordered mine and I've email EB and left a message on their phone, but no reply. It would give me an idea as to when to expect them and consequently get very excited too :)

These will be running through an Arcam Solo Mini, rDAC, Sonos, Project 5.1 through Quad L2 and Sub Lite, which I've had for donkeys!

Will be interesting to hear the difference to the Quads.

Hi Stu,

I think it must have been around 8 to 10 weeks until they arrived, probably because I ordered them relatively early, nearly as soon as they were up on the web site. I e-mailed them too as my fingernails were reaching desperation point (no reply at that time either), managed to get through on the phone at some point (hence the comments about his nice phone manners). However I might not have needed to worry as he sent me an e-mail just as delivery was imminent.

The anticipation should be worth it though! Hope you'll enjoy them.

Hi,

I appreciate this is an old thread, but wondered if anyone has a pair of EB2's, if so, would like to know your views on them...

Thanks

Shaun

You dug deep to find these threads. There is absolutely no point in re-opening three if you are asking the same question in each of them.

Cannot (will not) comment on speaker cables as there is too much on this forum already regards pros and cons. Personally, unless the cables you currently have are falling apart I would not bother about upgrading. Spend the money on more music to play through those wonderful speakers (or possible make sure they are on good speaker stands). Enjoy :)
