hi all, thinking of buying a panasonic dmr- ex79 dvd recorder with digital tuner does anyone know if the tuner is for free to air only or can it be connected to a sat dish direct, cheers

It's has DTT(Freeview) tuner not a satellite tuner, so therefore can't be connected directly to a dish.

Do you specifically need to archive your recordings? Would not Sky+ be suitable?

It's a bit dearer but have you thought of panasonic's blu-ray & freesat recorder, DMR-BS850 or DMR-BS750.

i am taking the recorder out to cyprus and i don't have sky out there i already have a blu ray player which is connected to a projecter for movies for tv i use a plasma panel without tuner so my sat box would be connected to the recorder and on to plasma because of the shortage of good tv i would use this to record programs to watch later in the day
