Not too sure if this is the best way of contacting you, but i am having issues with my LX82 AV Amp.... I know you previously gave me advice as you own one...

Have you ever had any issues getting deep bass from it in Pure analogue direct mode? (See my post "Lack of Bass").

Any comments you have would be gratefully appreciated...

Hi John,

I've tried all settings... switching to normal instead of bi-amp, small and large settings... I dont want any bass from the sub, just want it coming from the 2 main L&R speakers in Pure direct mode.

I tested a Rotel amp circa £400 and the volume of bass was quite scary.... Then the shop plugged my equipment into their LX72 and at first, had the same issues, until they switched to Pure direct mode and again... ooodles of bass.

I've come to the conclusion that my Pure direct function doesn't work as i went into the set up mode (MCAA) and did a data check... Volumes seemed to change as and when i changed dB and speaker distances. Thought the pure direct was supposed to bypass all this ?? At least that's what Pioneer have told me.

Any suggestions?

p.s. Noticed you have the same amp, do you by any chance listen to Black Eyed Peas or Rihanna? (not solely the music i listen to, but thats what i've used to test the bass - or lack of in this case).

Songs in particular.... Black Eyed Peas - "My Humps", Rihanna - "Pon de replay" or "Willing to wait"

Would be interesting to see your verdict in the different modes....

Once again, thanks for your input and help

Will have a check but i made up a playlist of my fave songs on my mac in itunes and put it to pure direct songs from ettiene de crecy and moloko- time is now etc "system testers" so to speak and didnt notice any loss in bass. The mac is hooked up via optical so will try the old cd player later on to test. Its hooked up by phonos. Last time i used it was playing the roots and the bass was not amiss then.

I've only had my '82 for a week or so and I wouldn't say t's bass light at all, just listened to REM using Pure Direct and bass was so good I had to check that my sub was off!

Checked last night- Sorry to report there is no shortage of bass. Everything sounds a bit leaner i think when listening in pure analog direct. I know that its the way it is supposed to sound. I do use it quite a lot for listening sessions. R u sure your ears are not just used to hearing the simulated sound you get when using the amp with the various effects on?? It does take a bit of getting used to when going back to the pure direct setting for me anyway Maybe pop to your local store with the amp??
