Does the BBC broadcast in 5.1 surround sound?

Thought about buying a Freesat HD box and wondered if I connected it to my Onkyo 875 would I get glorious 5.1 surround sound in HD, SD or does the beeb only broadcast in 2 channel stereo?

No, 5.1, at least on Sky, which is my only frame of reference.

Yes and they keep messing that up by losing the centre channel.

I think only on Freeview which isn't an option for you in LA.

Normal BBC is stereo with films in Dolby Pro Logic I think. I don't know about Sky though but probably the same.

Just to clarify I should say that some - but not all - of the programming in BBC HD is in 5.1.
